Move Off The Twister Board And Let Me Order Your Steps: A December To Remember
The Lord said to me this morning: Make sure you tell them Holy Spirit is in you. That is not a suggestion. It is a reality. Our struggle is learning to yield to that inner voice and to walk by the ordered steps God gives, not by the dizzying commands of the world around you.
The difference between a Twister board and the ordered steps of God
Remember the game Twister? Left foot blue, right hand yellow, contortions until everyone looks like a pretzel. That’s exactly what happens when we follow every loud instruction, fear, or headline that spins in our heads. We get twisted. We become exhausted. We lose clarity.
Today I speak to that place where so many of us get tangled—where our hands and feet are flung every which way by the spinner of the board game instead of being guided forward by a still, gentle wind of Spirit.
God’s way is not that. He orders our steps—straight, forward, purposeful. When we yield to the Holy Spirit we don’t get left foot blue. We move with precision, not panic. We follow the quiet promptings from within, not the frantic directions from without.
Yielding: the simple, radical action that changes everything
Yielding is not passive. It is an intentional surrender. When you stop fighting in your own strength and submit to the move of the Spirit, your steps are ordered. Your decisions line up. Doors begin to open. That’s not theory; it’s practice.
- Yield inwardly—learn to be still and listen to the soft voice beneath the noise.
- Obey outwardly—take small steps when prompted. The Spirit often moves through small acts of faith.
- Trust consistently—the Lord will order your steps as you walk with Him.
The law of giving and refreshing
Proverbs says, “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” That truth is not sentimental. It is strategic. If you need refreshing, go give it. If you are hungry for favor, become a channel of favor. As you sow, God multiplies.
Generosity is broader than finances. It includes encouragement, forgiveness, time, and mercy. When we become givers of these things—even when we feel drained—God’s wind of refreshment will find us. The seasons that wear us out often teach us to love and give unconditionally. Those seasons are not wasted. They are the soil where a sevenfold return begins to grow.
Drop the baggage; cross the Jordan
You cannot carry yesterday’s offenses, bitterness, or unmet expectations across into your new season. The metaphor of Goshen and the Jordan is real for your life: there is a promised land waiting, but you will not cross if you hold onto the bags.
This month, make a radical decision to release what no longer serves you. Forgive the person who hurt you. Lay down the resentment. Pack light. God has good clothes and rich provision on the other side—milk and honey—yet you must travel unencumbered.
Practical, prophetic declarations for this December
This season is pregnant with opportunity—an unexpected turnaround, favor, and restoration. Speak boldly and receive the promises:
- Your steps are being ordered. Stop following the spinner. Follow the Spirit.
- Mercy will rewrite your story. What has been stuck becomes testimony.
- Broken things begin to restore. Time, relationships, resources: expect restoration.
- Your altar of prayer burns with fire. Pray daily. God answers where there is persistent prayer and obedience.
How mercy fights for you
Mercy is not passive. Mercy goes to war. When you extend mercy to those who hurt you, God’s mercy will fight for you in ways you cannot manufacture. Give mercy and watch how mercy rearranges circumstances on your behalf.
That does not mean you become a doormat. It means you choose the high road and trust God with justice. The act of letting mercy go activates heaven’s economy on your behalf.
Identity: you are a co-heir
This month, remind yourself who you are: a son or daughter, a co-heir with Christ. That identity changes how you move. You are not a pauper waiting for scraps. You are royalty positioned to reign and to steward what God places in your hands.
When you believe your identity, your circumstances begin to align. Start speaking your inheritance. Start acting like the one who has a Father who is for you and not against you.
Four practical steps to start today
- Be still and listen. Practice 5–10 minutes of silence to hear the soft promptings of the Spirit.
- Give something away—encouragement, time, or a small gift. Watch how blessing returns.
- Release one grudge. Say the name, forgive, and let it drop.
- Declare one simple prophetic sentence over your December: “This month I finish well.” Repeat it daily.
Finish well: a closing word
I believe this December will be a month you remember. Not because problems vanish, but because God’s goodness locates you, mercy rewrites your story, and your steps are ordered as you learn to listen internally.
Move off the Twister board. Stop letting the world spin you into confusion. Let the Holy Spirit order your steps and lead you straight through.
Your altar will burn with a fire that purifies and produces testimonies. Your life will move from endurance to enjoyment. Doors that were closed will open. Provision will arrive. Restoration can come quickly and in abundance when you respond with faith.
Now, stand up in faith and take the step He’s asking you to take. Yield. Give. Forgive. Obey. And watch God do what only He can do.
