The Season of  Rest - With Victory Coming

Apr 23, 2026 • 7 min read

April 23, 2026. Some mornings the Lord does not call us to push harder. He calls us to pause. He calls us to lift our hands, stop striving for a moment, and remember that He has heard every prayer, every decree, every cry, and every battle fought in secret. There are times to war, and there are times to worship. This is a word about both, but especially about the kind of holy rest that comes after long seasons of travail.

When Prayer Has Been Heavy and the Warfare Has Been Real

Many in the body of Christ know exactly what it feels like to carry a burden for nations. You can feel the pressure in the spirit. You can see tyranny trying to tighten its grip. You can sense infighting, confusion, and resistance breaking loose in places where you had hoped to see peace. You pray, you decree, you stand, and at times it looks as though the conflict is only intensifying.

That can leave a faithful remnant asking a very honest question: Lord, what do You want from us now?

The answer is not always, “Fight harder.” Sometimes the answer is, “Worship Me.”

That does not mean prayer stops. It does not mean decreeing and declaring stop. It does not mean spiritual authority is set aside. It means there are moments when heaven says, I have heard it all. Now take a Sabbath in My presence.

There is a tremendous difference between quitting and resting. Rest is not surrender to darkness. Rest is surrender to God.

A Fresh Word for This Season: Replenishing and Rest

A prophetic word recently released by Kent Christmas captures this season powerfully: this is the year of replenishing and rest.

That lands deeply for anyone who has been in prolonged spiritual travail. The strain has not been meaningless. The exhaustion has not been wasted. The mourning, the weeping, the pressing, and the endurance have all been connected to birthing.

There are seasons where it feels like the people of God have been stuck in the birthing canal forever. But heaven’s perspective is different. The travail has been because something is being brought forth.

The promise is this: the pain of labor will be forgotten when the birth finally manifests.

This is not just personal. It is regional, national, and global. What God is doing is not confined to one nation. The Lord is moving across continents. He is preparing a move that will touch every nation and every people who have ears to hear.

Worship Is Going to Change

One of the striking parts of this season is the shift in how gatherings of believers will function. The mode of church is changing. Worship is changing.

There will be moments when congregations break into the song of the Lord without rehearsal, without planning, and without someone orchestrating it from the front. That kind of worship does not come from production. It comes from presence.

When the glory of God settles in a place, ministry can no longer be driven by human control. Leaders step aside. Priests fall on their faces. The room belongs to the King.

That is where many have felt things moving for some time now. God is taking control out of human hands and returning it to where it always belonged.

The body of Christ has read about these moments in Scripture. Many have longed for them. But there is a growing sense that the church is not merely going to hear stories about them anymore. We are about to see them.

God Is Removing Ungodly Rulers

This season is not only about refreshing the saints. It is also about divine upheaval in the earth.

There is a clear sense that God is confronting tyrants, dictators, and ungodly rulers. He is stripping power from those who have operated in darkness, corruption, and treachery. Some removals will come through visible public processes. Others will come by the sovereign hand of God.

This matters because many intercessors have carried this burden for years. They have prayed against tyranny. They have cried out over unrighteous treaties, hidden corruption, and leaders who operate in rebellion against God’s order.

Scripture is clear that the Lord raises up kings and removes them. He is not intimidated by political systems, global institutions, or propaganda machines. He sees the darkness men hide. He sees the deals made behind closed doors. He sees what no media outlet reports.

And He is acting.

As He does, the promise is that a spirit of peace and joy will begin to blanket the earth. The song of the Lord will rise out of His people, and those who have felt penned in and hemmed in will begin to move with freedom again, “like calves released from the stall.”

The Slave Mentality Must Break

One of the strongest themes in this hour is deliverance from bondage thinking.

Many believers have endured years of fear, intimidation, shame, and weariness. The pressure has been so relentless that some have unconsciously adapted to oppression. They love God, but they think like captives.

God is breaking that.

He is breaking the spirit of slavery. He is breaking the spirit of bondage. He is bringing His people out of the iron furnace.

This includes freedom from fear of death, fear of man, fear of loss, and fear of future suffering. The Lord’s question is simple and searching: if He watches over the sparrow and clothes the flower, how much more will He care for His people?

That is not sentimental comfort. That is kingdom reality.

New Season, New Assignments, Same Calling

One of the most important clarifications for this hour is that a change in assignment is not a change in calling.

That distinction matters.

A person may once have traveled constantly, preached tirelessly, built visibly, and carried immense public responsibility. Later, the same person may minister more quietly, more slowly, or through mentoring and impartation instead of front-line activity. The assignment shifts. The call does not.

This truth was beautifully illustrated through the reflection on Bishop Bill Hamon and the care now surrounding him in this later season of life. Strength changes. Stamina changes. Capacity in the natural changes. But the purpose of God does not evaporate because a season turns.

Heaven does not measure usefulness the way this world does. The world celebrates nonstop output. Heaven values abiding, faithfulness, and obedience.

That means:

  • Relationship comes before responsibility
  • Connection comes before visible accomplishment
  • Fruit grows out of abiding, not striving

That should encourage the weary, the aging, the hidden, and the ones whose role looks different now than it used to. If your season has shifted, it does not mean God has moved on from you. It means He is expressing His purpose through you differently.

Why the Power of Your Words Matters More Than Ever

At the same time, this season shift carries a warning. The enemy looks for legal ground.

God is Father, Friend, and righteous Judge. Those roles are not in conflict, but they are distinct. As Father, He loves us fiercely. As Judge, He rules righteously and impartially.

That is why the words we speak matter so much.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Words are not weightless. They are seeds. And seeds produce harvests.

Too many believers speak against themselves without realizing it. They sow death while asking God for life. They make verbal agreements with defeat, sickness, resentment, bitterness, and hopelessness, then wonder why there is so much spiritual blowback.

It is not enough to mean well. We must speak well.

Some practical spiritual wisdom here is simple and urgent:

  • Repent for words spoken in unbelief, bitterness, fear, or self-accusation
  • Renounce those verbal agreements and break them
  • Plead the blood of Jesus Christ, who cancels the record of charges against us
  • Replace false confessions with truth-filled declarations aligned with God’s Word

This is especially important as new people come into deeper teaching on spiritual authority. Many have not yet been trained to understand that the enemy exploits careless speech. God is preparing His people for kingdom age living, and mature kingdom speech is part of that preparation.

The Church Age Is Over, the Kingdom Age Has Begun

There has been a growing conviction for years now that the Lord is moving His people into a new epoch. The language used for it is direct: the church age is over, and the kingdom age has begun.

That does not mean the old structures vanish overnight. Transitions rarely work that way.

It is like standing in spring while still feeling traces of winter. Some days carry the chill of the old season. Other days already feel like summer. The shift is real even while remnants of the previous season remain.

That is where many are living right now.

Systems are being shaken. Structures are being struck with a wrecking ball. Old models are collapsing. Most people still have not understood what is happening in the spirit or in the natural. But the Lord is opening new doors, new opportunities, and new assignments for those willing to step out in faith.

He is asking His people to walk through doors that may feel unfamiliar, but are absolutely from Him.

What This Means Right Now

For this moment, the instruction is not complicated.

Pause. Worship. Give thanks. Guard your mouth. Stay focused. Be ready for new assignments.

The noise of media, the chaos of nations, and the voices of modern-day prophets of Baal must not pull the remnant off target. God has heard the prayers. He is bringing down tyrants. He is opening doors. He is refreshing the weary. He is replenishing the faithful.

And He is reminding His people who they are.

You were predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. That is the call. The assignment may shift. The pace may change. The methods may look different. But the call remains.

So if you are tired, worship. If you are burdened, worship. If you have been in labor for a long time, worship. If you feel the season changing but cannot yet see all the details, worship.

God is good. He has not forgotten. And this year is not only a year of resistance. It is a year of replenishing and rest.
