April 16, 2026. You have been called to be a keeper of His flame. Not a fire to fear, but a fire to consecrate you, purify you, and refire you. And many of you need that word right now. You love God, you believe His Word, but somewhere along the way your igniter burned out. The gas may still be flowing, but the spark is weak. And the good news is this: God Himself is the original source. He is the fire that never runs out.
That picture hit me in the most ordinary way. I was using an old stainless steel barbecue, about 25 years old, and it still looks nearly brand new. But the built-in igniter no longer works. I can push that button all day long in my own strength, and nothing happens. So what do I do? I go back to the source. I grab a secondary igniter, and the grill fires right up.
That is where many believers are living. You keep pressing the dead button of self-effort. More striving. More trying. More intellectual effort. More dependence on your own strength. But the Kingdom does not work that way. The flame of God is not produced by flesh. It is received from the Source.
You Are the Altar
One of the greatest misunderstandings in the church is the word altar. People hear “come to the altar” and imagine a place at the front of a room where a pastor prays for them. But an altar is not fundamentally a church stage, a pile of stones, or a religious tradition. You are the altar.
You are a living stone. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit. You are a living sacrifice unto God.
An altar is a place of exchange between the natural world and the supernatural world. It is a gateway where heaven is invited to interact with earth. And once you understand that, everything changes. A desk can become an altar. A kitchen table can become an altar. A chair in a hotel room can become an altar. The place matters only because it has been consecrated to God.
When you sit before Him and say, “Lord, I consecrate this place to You. Meet me here,” that becomes holy ground. Not because of the furniture. Because of surrender.
You are not waiting for someone else to bring you into the presence of God. You carry His presence. You are a traveling altar.
Stop Becoming Dependent on Man
Too many believers have been trained to depend on a pastor, priest, platform, or prayer line, when the call of God is to depend on Jesus Christ Himself. Leaders are meant to point people to Him, not make people dependent on themselves.
Jesus did not say, “Teach My sheep to gather around a man.” He said, “If you love Me, keep My commands.” He said to feed His sheep, not disable them. He called us to make disciples, not spectators.
That means your title is not ultimately entrepreneur, farmer, designer, retiree, business owner, or any other label you wear in the natural. Your title is far higher than that:
- Child of God
- Follower of Jesus
And your job description? It is not mysterious.
- Heal the sick
- Cleanse the lepers
- Raise the dead
- Cast out demons
That is not a special assignment for a few elite Christians. That is the assignment Jesus gave to believers. Matthew 10:8 is not spiritual poetry. It is a job description.
You Do Not Need More Permission to Obey
Many people keep asking for more training before they obey what Jesus has already made plain. Yes, there are deeper things to learn. Yes, there is wisdom, maturity, and spiritual growth. But the beginning is not complicated. Read the words in red and do them.
I did not start by tackling the deepest battles. I started with a much simpler posture: “Lord, You said it, so You must have meant it. I will obey.”
That is where power begins.
Not with endless seminars. Not with collecting revelation while remaining inactive. Not by reducing Christianity to sitting around learning about God while never demonstrating His Kingdom. His Kingdom is a kingdom of power. His Word is meant to be written on your heart and displayed through your life.
Faith Moves First, Feelings Follow Later
One of the great lies people believe is this: “When I feel the fire, then I will move.” But often it works the other way around. The fire of the Holy Spirit manifests as you move in obedience.
I have learned this in my own life. I feel the power of God flowing most clearly when I step into something I know I cannot do on my own. I do not wait until I feel qualified. I move because the words in red said to. Then His power meets obedience.
That is important, because many people disqualify themselves by saying things like:
- “What if nothing happens?”
- “What if I do not see results?”
- “I do not know how to pray for the sick.”
- “I do not feel anointed enough.”
But your job is not to produce the result. Your job is obedience. His job is power.
If you lay hands on the sick and trust Him, you have fulfilled your assignment. Whether the result is immediate or shows up later does not change the command. You are not the healer. You are the vessel through which the Healer flows.
Call Forth What Is Not Yet Seen
Faith is the substance of what is hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen. That means if you are hoping for healing, restoration, deliverance, reconciliation, or national reformation, the substance that brings it into manifestation is faith.
So stop speaking only what you see. Start speaking what God has said.
If a diagnosis comes, you do not partner with fear. If bad news arrives, you do not enthrone fear and doubt in your inner world. You stand on the promises of God and speak life. You call forth healing according to heaven’s blueprint. You declare restoration. You decree what aligns with the heart of God.
This is not pretending. This is partnering with heaven.
When you decree the promises of God in faith, you are not trying to be God. You are agreeing with God. And where heaven and earth meet in agreement through a yielded life, power is released.
Take the Mantle and Live Activated
Jesus did not die so that we would sit in pews and endlessly discuss Him from a distance. He died so that we would become servants of the Most High, filled with the Holy Spirit, activated in faith, and carrying His fire into the world.
Do not measure your spiritual life merely by how much Bible knowledge you have accumulated or how many religious habits you perform. Measure it also by this: How much do you know His heart, and how fully are you living out your assignment?
There are people who conform outwardly to religion and yet live powerless lives. They know the rules, but not the heart of God. They defend their system but do not release His Kingdom. God is not looking for polished religious performance. He is looking for yielded sons and daughters who will move when He says move.
Your Authority Is Not Just Personal, It Is Territorial
These same principles do not apply only to praying for individuals. They apply when you contend for cities, regions, and nations.
If Jesus told us to heal the sick, then we can pray over sick nations. If He told us to cleanse the lepers, then we can confront rot and corruption in governance. If He told us to raise the dead, then we can call dead things back to life in our countries. If He told us to cast out demons, then we can confront spiritual darkness that has attached itself to institutions, systems, and territories.
You do not do that from arrogance. You do it from delegated authority in Christ.
You can stand at city hall, at a legislature, at a school, or in your own neighborhood and pray in faith. You can declare that darkness has no right to remain. You can bless what God blesses and confront what opposes His ways. You can pray for Israel, for Iran, for Canada, for America, for the United Kingdom, and for every nation represented in your sphere of assignment.
Why? Because the remnant was never called to passive observation. We were called to agreement with heaven.
What This Looks Like Practically
If you want to begin walking this out, start simply:
- Consecrate a place. A chair, desk, table, room, or corner. Tell the Lord, “This is an altar unto You.”
- Ask for refire. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh.
- Read the words in red. Let Jesus define your assignment.
- Obey without overcomplicating it. Pray for the sick. Speak life. Cast out fear and darkness in Jesus’ name.
- Leave results to God. Your responsibility is faith-filled obedience.
- Keep tending the flame. Fire untended becomes dim. Fire fed becomes strength.
Do not wait to feel impressive. Do not wait until self-doubt vanishes. Do not wait until you think you sound spiritual enough. Open your mouth. Obey in faith. Let signs, wonders, and miracles chase after obedience.
You Have Been Called to Carry the Flame
The Lord is still asking the same question today: Who in My remnant will move?
You were made in His image and likeness. He gave you a voice. He gave you authority in Christ. He has called you to be salt and light, not just in religious gatherings, but in the whole of life. In your home. On your street. In your workplace. In your city. In your nation.
So let this be the day you stop reducing the Christian life to passive learning and start embracing the mantle Jesus died to give you. You are a child of God. A follower of Jesus. A doer of the words in red.
Receive from the altar. Carry the fire. Speak in faith. Obey boldly. And trust the Lord to establish what He has spoken.
Blessings, Howard Olsen
