There are mornings that mark you. Not because everything went smoothly, but because God interrupts the natural order and reminds you that His word is not poetry. It is power.
Early in the morning, before the day really got moving, I did what I encourage people to do all the time. I spoke over the day. I thanked the Lord and commanded the day to come into alignment with His plans, His purposes, and His protection. I declared that angels were dispatched to cover every step I take.
And then, just a few minutes later, I missed the bottom two stairs coming into the kitchen.
In the natural, that should have ended with a smashed face, broken teeth, and a hard collision with ceramic tile and the counter edge. But that is not what happened. Somehow, impossibly, I landed upright on my feet in a squat. No shattered teeth. No concussion. No blood. Just a stunned moment and a very simple response: thank You, Lord.
I could not see the angels, but I know they were there.
You Have More Authority Than You Think
Far too many believers live as if they are waiting for heaven to intervene while heaven is waiting for them to speak.
Yes, God gives guardian angels. Yes, His mercy is active before we ever understand what is happening. But there is another level available to the people of God, and it comes through agreement, decree, and authority. Scripture teaches that angels hearken to the voice of His word. That means when you speak what God has spoken, heaven moves with you.
This is not about arrogance. This is about alignment.
You are not trying to invent your own reality. You are coming into agreement with the King and enforcing what He has already said. That is a very different thing.
Kings, Priests, and the Call to Rule Well
One of the central truths that keeps coming forward is this: God made His people to be kings and priests unto Him.
That language matters. A priest serves. A king governs. Put those together and you get the heart of biblical leadership: rule with humility, serve with authority.
From Genesis onward, the assignment has always been there. God made man in His image and likeness, then told him to be fruitful, multiply, subdue the earth, and have dominion. Not domination rooted in pride, but stewardship rooted in sonship. Everything else in creation responds to the One who made it, and humanity alone was formed from the dust and personally infused with the breath of life.
That means your life is not accidental, and your words are not weightless.
God is not cruel. If He told you to reign and rule, He also gave you the authority and backing to do it. The issue is not whether He meant it. The issue is whether we believe it enough to act like it.
Command the Day Before Something Else Does
One of the strongest exhortations is simple and practical: take hold of your day before another spirit tries to hijack it.
Every day is contested ground. If you do not govern the atmosphere around your life, something from the kingdom of darkness will try to do it for you. That is why verbal prayer matters. Agreement matters. Declarations matter.
There is power in saying:
- Father, let this day come into alignment with Your plans and purposes.
- Your favor, grace, peace, and purpose govern my day.
- Every agenda not planted by God is uprooted in Jesus' name.
- No weapon formed against me will prosper.
- Every demonic schedule is overridden by God’s divine order.
This is not empty religious language. This is how people of covenant stand in their authority.
No Weapon Formed Against You Will Prosper
There is a word many people need to hear again: the war over your reputation does not belong to you.
When lies are spoken, when false accusations rise, when people misunderstand or misrepresent you, the flesh wants immediate revenge. It wants to answer every critic, expose every hypocrite, and settle every score.
But the kingdom does not work that way.
The instruction is clear. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who spitefully use you. Refuse bitterness. Refuse revenge. Stay on the side of righteousness and let the Lord refute what needs refuting.
That is not weakness. That is warfare at a higher level.
When you sow revenge, you plant the seeds of more conflict. When you sow mercy, prayer, and forgiveness, you create the conditions for God to defend you His way. He sees everything. He misses nothing. He is more than capable of vindicating His people without your anger making a mess of it.
The Bible Is Not Theory
For many people, the turning point comes when the word of God stops being interesting and starts becoming authoritative.
Everything changes when you finally say, “If He said it, He meant it. I am going to believe it enough to live it.”
That is where mountains start moving.
Not because you mastered a formula, but because you stepped out of double-mindedness. The word became your blueprint. Not a religious accessory. Not a Sunday ritual. Your actual owner’s manual.
That is also why God usually leads one step at a time. If He showed you the full scope of what He intends to do through your life, most people would panic and retreat. So He gives the next step. Then the next one. Then the next.
Trust is built in motion.
Psalm 4 and 1 Peter 2: Your Identity Matters
Two passages rise to the surface with tremendous clarity here.
Psalm 4 reminds us that the Lord has set apart the godly for Himself and hears when they call. That one truth alone can steady a soul. You are not overlooked. You are not abandoned. You are not shouting into the void. The Lord hears.
Then 1 Peter 2 takes it further. You are called a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own possession.
Read that slowly.
You are not random. You are not spiritually disqualified because you are still growing. You are not cast aside because you do not fit neatly into the systems of man. If your heart is after Him, if you are yielding to His process, if you are learning to walk in obedience, then you qualify as a work in progress under grace.
And because of that, you are called to show forth the goodness of God.
That is why speech matters so much. Peter says to get rid of deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and unkind speech. Every word is a seed. Every seed produces after its own kind. So if you catch yourself speaking from bitterness, shut it down quickly. Repent. Renounce it. Replace it with truth.
This is part of how sanctification works in real life.
Take the Higher Road
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is not send the email.
There are moments when anger feels justified. Maybe it even is justified. But if you act while your soul is on fire, you often multiply the problem. Better to leave it in drafts overnight. Better to remain silent long enough for the Lord to purify your response.
Not every battle is won by confrontation. Some are won by restraint.
Do not die on the hill of being right in your own timing. Let God decide what to expose, when to expose it, and whether you are even meant to address it at all.
The Kingdom Is Advancing in the Earth
There is also a larger burden here that goes beyond personal breakthrough. We are in a season where people must learn how to pray for nations, not just themselves.
The message is not fear. The message is vigilance.
Darkness still tries to move through governments, media, financial systems, and war. There are real spiritual battles over nations like Canada, America, Israel, Ukraine, and others. But the answer is not panic. The answer is a consecrated people who know who they are.
That is why the call keeps returning to this identity:
- You are living stones in God’s spiritual house.
- You are a royal priesthood.
- You are called to stand in the gap.
- You are meant to reign and serve under the authority of the King.
When people of God pray from that place, things shift. Not because they are impressive, but because heaven backs agreement with truth.
Honor, Sabbath, and Holy Living
Kingdom authority is not separate from kingdom order. If we want to speak with weight, we must also live in alignment.
That includes honoring father and mother, refusing murder in all its forms, rejecting theft, walking in sexual purity, telling the truth, and refusing covetousness. It also includes remembering the Sabbath.
Rest is not laziness. Sabbath is part of how God recreates you. Shut it down. Step back. Let your soul breathe. Recreation, rightly understood, is re-creation. If you never stop, you eventually lose clarity, tenderness, and strength.
God did not command rest because He needed it. He commanded it because we do.
The Practical Call for Today
If you want to walk in this, begin simply.
- Start your morning with decrees. Command the day into alignment with God’s purposes.
- Speak the word out loud. Faith comes by hearing, and demons do not enjoy hearing scripture aimed directly at them.
- Refuse retaliation. Let God handle vindication.
- Bless, forgive, and pray. Sow the harvest you want back.
- Remember who you are. Chosen. Set apart. Royal priesthood. Living stone.
- Stand in the gap for your nation. A king thinks beyond himself.
The Lord is building more than informed believers. He is raising up kingdom people who know how to carry His presence, speak His word, and govern their territory with righteousness.
So take hold of the day. Speak life. Refuse fear. Stand your ground. And when heaven rescues you in ways that make no natural sense, do not shrug it off. Mark it. Remember it. Give Him glory for it.
Blessings, Howard Olsen
