    Breaking Strongholds - Why Demons Return: Yesterday Does Not Exist In Tomorrow - Unless You Drag It There

    2026-03-05 Good morning. This day was made by the Lord, and I stand before you to deliver a simple, practical message: you cannot bring yesterday’s chains into tomorrow and expect to live free. The Bible gives us clear, usable instructions on how to shift trajectory, remove bitterness, and take dominion over our day. I want to speak plainly and pastorally, like one who has seen the grace and the consequences of both holding on and letting go.

    Enter the Gate: Thanksgiving First

    Everything begins with a posture of gratitude. The instruction is explicit: enter his gates with thanksgiving; enter his courts with praise. That’s not a suggestion. It is the launching pad for spiritual authority. When you put praise on your lips, you change your perspective. That change rewires how you see your circumstances and shifts your trajectory.

    Praise is not about sounding perfect or having the right melody. It is obedience. It is the key that opens the inner sanctum where you receive fresh strength, fresh strategy, and the power you need to stand. Let one small thing you are grateful for become the first brick you lay on the path out of the mire. Say it out loud and watch the gate open.

    Command the Morning: Speak With Authority

    We were made in God’s image and likeness. If His voice spoke the world into being, our words—when aligned with Him—carry authority. Commanding the morning is not mystical; it is obedience. Declare this day will favor you. Declare that angels are assigned to guard and guide. Declare restoration, health, and prosperity over the works of your hands.

    When you speak, you are releasing a seed. If you say “I am blessed,” you plant a harvest that will grow. If you say “I am sick and tired,” you hand legal permission to a cycle that will keep you sick and tired. Choose your words wisely. Make confession a strategic tool: speak what you want to receive, not what you fear.

    Put On the Full Armor of God

    The Scripture gives practical clothing for spiritual battle. This armor is custom-made and purpose-built for you. It’s not borrowed from someone else’s life. David refused Saul’s armor because it didn’t fit. Likewise, you must strap on what God provides:

    • Belt of Truth — Anchor your identity in God’s truth, not cultural slogans or flattering lies.
    • Breastplate of Righteousness — Wear Christ’s righteousness; it protects your heart from accusation and shame.
    • Shoes of Peace — Be ready to move with the gospel of Shalom that shatters chaos.
    • Shield of Faith — The only thing that extinguishes the flaming arrows of the enemy.
    • Helmet of Salvation — Guard your mind; operate with a border guard over every thought and image you allow.
    • Sword of the Spirit — The offensive weapon: God’s Word spoken with authority.

    Put this on daily. It is not legalism; it is survival. It changes how you show up in the world and how the world responds to you.

    Break Strongholds: Why Demons Return

    Demons obey the name of Jesus. They flee when you command them to go. But there is a reason they sometimes return: a stronghold remains. A stronghold is a legal foothold—habits, agreements, or unrepented choices that give demonic forces access.  What is it you need to rethink, repent and renounce?

    If a house is cleared and left empty, more will come in. That’s why deliverance must be followed by redemptive action: repentance, renouncing contracts, and backfilling the vacuum with God’s Word and worship. When you sincerely forgive, repent, and change behavior, you remove the legal authority and the enemy has nowhere to anchor.

    Practical Illustration

    When someone keeps a habit that they’ve been warned to stop—especially after a clear conviction from the Spirit—grace can be present for a season. But persistent refusal hands the accuser legal ground. The remedy is simple and hard at the same time: confess, renounce, and replace. Replace the habit with worship. Replace the confession of failure with declarations of victory.

    Let Go of Yesterday — It Is Dead

    Unforgiveness is one of the strongest chains we drag into tomorrow. You cannot enter the promised land carrying yesterday’s hurts. The same voice that tells you to remember offenses is the enemy trying to keep you small. Let go. Lay it at the cross. Forgiveness doesn’t remove consequence; it frees you to move forward while God deals with justice.

    Yesterday does not exist in tomorrow unless you drag it there. That sentence is not a platitude. It is a spiritual law. Your future is determined by what you do in the present: how you speak, whom you forgive, and whether you put on the armor God gave you.

    Steps to Walk Into Freedom Today

    1. Begin the day with thanksgiving. Name one thing you are grateful for and declare it aloud.
    2. Speak declarations that align with Scripture: favor, health, provision, and protection.
    3. Put on the full armor of God—literally pray through each piece.
    4. Identify any stronghold: a habit, an unresolved offense, or a place of compromise.
    5. Repent and renounce the legal agreement. Backfill your life with worship, Scripture, and community accountability.
    6. Keep your mouth on mission: confess victory, not defeat.

    Final Word: Move Into Your Promised Land

    We were predestined to be conformed to the image and likeness of Christ. Each step of renunciation, praise, and obedience chisels away strongholds and brings us closer to that destiny. Don’t stand frozen in yesterday. Take the authority you have been given. Command the morning. Wear the armor. Forgive. Speak life. Advance.

    Put your praise on like rocket boosters. Come into the gate with thanksgiving. Go into the courts with praise. The power you seek will meet you there.
